About 100 Homes

Our History

100 Homes was born in 2017 under the auspices of Nottingham City Prayer, as a result of prayer and as a means of the Church blessing the city.

In October 2017 gathered over 120 church and ministry leaders from around 90 different churches to discern how God might have the church move forward as a united church to bless the city. There was a sense at that meeting that the church was being called to work with the city in addressing the foster care crisis in the city

Shortly after the conference representatives of City Prayer met with Nottingham city council to hear about the care needs in the city and to offer to work with the council in fostering. The 100 HomesCampaign was born. The aim being to recruit 100 new foster homes from the church. Initially the partnership was on a voluntary basis with 100 Homes volunteering its time and experience to the city and then there followed a formal partnership with a contract and financial support from the city to carry out its work.

Discussions then followed with the county with 100 Homes partnering with the county initially on a voluntary basis. In 2023, 100 Homes formally extended into the county.

100 Homes later then became a standalone voluntary organisation separate from City Prayer, and in 2024 it became a registered charity with a Board of Trustees.

In 2025, we signed a new contract with Foster for East Midlands to work in Nottinghamshire County and Derby City. We now work primarily with those local authorities but still have great links with lots of Nottingham City churches who support us in our work.

As well as paid staff, we also now have a volunteer team whose contribution is invaluable. The team contribute toward our recruitment campaigns, undertake interviews on TV and radio, profile us on social media and celebrate and support our carers through every step of their fostering journey.

We believe the church has a big part to play in helping to create safe and loving environments for children to flourish

Future developments

After recently becoming a registered charity, 100 Homes is expanding and growing. We are currently actively fundraising to grow as an organisation, develop partnerships, employ more staff and work with more local authorities in the East Midlands.
